WHAT REALLY HAPPENS AT A CAKE SMASH SESSION

Updated: Sep 20, 2022

When I started offering Cake Smash Sessions at the studio I never thought it would be as popular as it now is. That was over 7 years ago and now I do a number of cake smash sessions every week.

I will start session with some great photos of your child in their lovely party clothes, with some unique props. The color scheme is chosen at the time of booking. I am open to any suggestions and will try to provide a set tailored exclusively for your child. If you don't want the full smash and splash you can tailor the shoot to your requirements.

I do not provide the cake, but I know great cake bakers and I will be happy to provide you with their information. I often recommend families go for pastels and avoid red and brown icing for their cakes. It's good to remember the baby is just one year old and is often shy of exploring a new texture. The fact is not all babies love cake, sometimes baby will not want to be near the cake. Some babies are afraid of the cake. One tip is to show them the cake before hand. Some babies love the cake, be prepare for a mess...)

After the smash part we can have a bubble bath. Splashing around in warm, silky bubbles is so much fun! Which is why I always include a bubble bath in every popular cake smash photoshoots.

It's soo lovely to watch babies enjoying themselves during the session with me.

I have very cute miniature bath which is just the perfect size for little ones. Bath splash allows me to create a greater variety of images.

My years of experience as a baby photographer has taught me that I get the best portraits of your one year old's if they are enjoying themselves. I will be sure to keep them entertained. I will capture the child's excitement, joy and memories of your baby turning one.
